I have had the pleasure to be a part of the normandy veterans parade in london for the last 2 years as a current serving member of HM Armed Forces. It was a total pleasure to meet so many of you and very flattering that so many of you remembered me the second year. Could somebody please let me know by e mail whether there is a 2008 june parade so that i can volunteer my services again? I look forward to seeing you all again this year and look forward to seeing you all in the pub afterwards for a chat. Take care of yourselves. Julie x

Hi - I am carrying out research into my Fathers regiment during WW2. It was the 102nd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery commanded by Lt. Col N.G Thompson. They served in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany from 1944 to 1946, when the regiment was disbanded.

They were part of 1 Corps which landed on Sword Beach and were based around Caen. During a lull in Sep '44, their drivers moved 49 and 51 Infantry Divisions into Belgium and Holland. In October '44, they became an Adhoc Infantry unit called BobForce, to help hold the line in Belgium alongside the 49th Inf Division. They then took over operation of the Land Service Mattress (Multiple Rocket Launchers) developed by the Canadians and were I believe the only Artillery batteries (337 and 33 in the British Army to use this equipment until the war ended.

Please contact me if you served in this unit, are a relative of someone who did or a member of another unit who served alongside them.

Thanks - R McAllister

i woud like to take this opportunity to contact you regarding information of my uncle his name was james corrigan (jim or boy) as we called him. he was one of the soldiers who taken pegasus bridge and held it. his name is on the wall at the cafe at pegasus and would be grateful if you could give me any information about as i was very proud of what he had done along with the rest of the soldiers when he died i got to keep some of his badges as being his great great nephew as i was very proud of him and still have them to this day and will never forget him and his comrads he gave me a journal of what hapened over there on the days leading up to it was fasinating to read apart from his freinds dying but when i was taking it to the national war museum i lost it and have still not forgiven myself to this day for the loss of this which i know was so valuable for his memory of that event i would be gratefull of any information so that i could keep along with the rest of his things i have.

My father is a veteran and was stationed in Germany form 1945-46. I am currently trying to help my 11 son start some research for a history project. He would like to interview some men who fought at the battle of Normandy.

Thank you for giving up your tomorrows for us. I am extremely grateful for the scarifices that all of you have made.

I saddened me and made me angry when Mr. Ernest Barry, a Normandy veteran, was attacked and robbed of his Normandy blazer in March of this year. I was wondering how he is doing, is he recovering?

I wish him and all the veterans the best and my hearty thanks for your scarifice.

Yours,Barry Campbell

A perfect site, Congretulations!
It's good to cherish our Liberators, because they made a wish come true in 1945: Freedom in Europe! They fought hard in Africa and the Pacific, in Italy and they moved from Normandy up to Emden and Leer in Germany. A lot of them died for our Freedom. We have to be Grateful for what they did and we still hounour them for what they did.

My sister and I were at the Reichswald War Cemetery in Kleve, where our father is buried, on 6th May. We felt honoured and proud to meet some of the Normandy Veterans and have a chance to talk with them. Our father, Sjt Stanley Buckley of 6th Bn HLI (City of Glasgow Regiment) was in France in June 1944 for about 2 weeks, but we do not know if he was part of the Normandy landings. He was killed near Tecklenberg in April of 1945. We know very little about the movements of 6Bn HLI, and would very much appreciate any information that anybody could give us.
We were very pleased to see that many people of all ages still visit the War Cemeteries and appreciate all that our soldiers went through so that we younger ones still have a 'Great Britain'
Our thanks to all those who spoke to us on that particular day, and especially to those, past or present, who gave us freedom.
Sincerely
Susan Burns

I am writing on behalf of my father in law Mr Fred Honour. He is a member of the Bradford Branch of the NVA. We are going to the celebrations in the Netherlands in May 2005 and will be staying in Wageningen. Fred would very much like to trace a young girl called Henny Baars. He has a photo of her as a young girl when she would come and sit in the trench with him. He and his comrades would give her sweets. She sent him a photo of herself taken in Feb 1950 with a baby of her own. The address on the back of the photo was :-
parallelweg 554d
Opheusden
Holland.
If anyone has any info which would enable us to trace Henny we would be very grateful
